An AI photobooth for live events

A photobooth that turns guests into themed AI pictures on the spot, printed or sent to their phones.

Over 300 AI pictures made at one Christmas party.

The German Tourist Board asked us to create AI-themed photos at its German Days event. The setup had to be quick, easy to use, and able to deliver good pictures in a busy live event.

The goal

We wanted a light, fast photobooth that could:

  • Take photos live at the event.
  • Turn them into themed pictures with AI.
  • Print the pictures on site.
  • Let guests download a digital copy to their phone.

How we built it

We started by testing several ready-made apps. They had already solved many user-experience problems, so we could focus on the event flow. Our priorities were:

  • Prompts that work: the AI had to make the themed pictures accurately and quickly.
  • A simple workflow: how pictures are taken, processed and printed.
  • A light setup: easy to carry and easy to run.

The photobooth ran smoothly, but some pictures did not meet our quality standard. So we built our own AI workflow, which improved image quality, speed and ease of use at live events.

Results

After these changes, Finnlines invited us to run the photobooth at its Christmas party. This time the pictures were delivered digitally, with no printing.

  • More than 300 AI-generated pictures were made during the party.
  • Many guests described the photobooth as a highlight of the party.
  • Pictures were made and delivered in real time.

The service today

MXM now offers the AI photobooth for other events. Our workflow can make almost any type of AI picture, from action figures to talking salmon.
