What is an AI media pipeline?

An AI outfit-swap tool: a garment photo and a model photo as inputs, and the model wearing the MXM hoodie as the result

An AI media pipeline is a repeatable production setup that turns one source asset into every version your channels, markets and audiences need, with people in charge of the quality.

That definition has three parts worth unpacking.

One source, many versions

Marketing teams rarely need one video. They need the long version, the short cut, the vertical version, the localised version and the one for a particular audience. Producing each from scratch is slow and expensive. A pipeline starts from a single approved source and generates the variants from it, so the investment you already made goes further.

A pipeline, not a prompt

A one-off prompt gives you one output. A pipeline is a designed sequence: which inputs go in, which tools process them, where a person reviews, and what comes out. It is built around your own processes and goals, not a template. That is also why it can bring the price per asset down while protecting quality: the repetitive steps are automated and the judgement steps stay human.

People in charge of quality

Our approach is created by humans, supercharged by AI. In a pipeline that means people decide what is made and what is good enough. AI handles the volume.

What goes into a pipeline

The building blocks we work with are:

  • Avatars: capturing your talent as an avatar for ongoing production value. That covers avatar videos for marketing, sales, training and communications, interactive avatars trained on your knowledge base, and live-action likenesses or animated characters. See our article on AI avatars for corporate video.
  • Localisation: adapting video, audio and copy for global markets while keeping cultural relevance and brand consistency. See localising video with AI.
  • Content production: planning the shoot with AI in mind from day one, so AI material can be created alongside the footage with the same look and feel, and every version for every platform comes out of one pass.
  • Tailored workflows: working out which content you want to automate, and how to do it without losing quality. AI tools change quickly, so someone has to keep testing and curating them.

When a pipeline is worth building

A pipeline pays off when you produce many variants of similar content: training in several languages, campaigns across many channels, or a library of explainer videos that keeps changing. If you only need one film, a pipeline is probably more than you need.

A real example: Hiab needed health and safety training delivered across several languages, with content changing as regulations changed. We created Safety Sam, an animated AI avatar who presents the material, so new languages and revisions no longer mean a new shoot. Read the Hiab case study.

Where to start

Pick one content type that you produce repeatedly, map the versions you need from it, and decide where a person must approve. That map is the first draft of your pipeline. For help, see our AI media pipelines or contact us.
